Zhong Shan Park III

Keena made an interesting observation the other day. She saw some old people dancing in front of the bank in front of our apartment (as is their custom every morning and evening), and she said, "Wow, they really have no shame here". Thats not true, but still it is interesting where shame is placed in Chinese culture. It is not shameful to sing and dance passionately in the streets, or to walk around with your stomachs exposed, or to even allow your kids to squat down and defecate in a department store lobby. Life is much more real, and there is a certain maturity about bodily functions and human behaviors that aren't white washed or ignored for "politeness" sake. So clear your throat, and hauk a loogie in front of me while I'm waiting in line to buy a milk tea.
