Long Day

So after a long day of editing photos and debriefing from last weekend's shop opening/ Paris trade-show preparation, I too was feeling a bad case of the Mondays. Luckily my new friend Allison, a rising senior at BU, whom I met at the store opening, was free, and craving some western cuisine. But first, I had to escort Zhou Ma (our tibetan guest who is living with us while exploring western medical options for her chronic headache and occasional paralysis. She's never been in a city before, let alone lived with an American. I'm not sure who the culture shock is worse for? She at least speaks Mandarin) from the office to her favorite restaurant, order her food "da bo" (take away), make sure she got back to the apartment okay, which I did. I said goodbye, and jumped into a "di shi" (taxi) and took an 11 quay (about 1.50 USD) cab ride to meet Allison and her friend Evan at Gourmet Cafe on Shaanxi lu and Bei jing lu. I've only been there once before, but the waitress immediately remembered how I liked my burger (rare) and that my drink was a dirty vodka martini. I asked her "ni jiao shei man min zu" (what's your name). Turned out to be Li Li, and I told her "Wo Ma Xiu" ( I am 'Horse- Fixer'), which is my Chinese name, only because it sounds like Matthew. So we had drinks and burgers, and talked and went our separate ways, and I crashed on my hard bed, and now I'm back at the office.
I'll try to get some photos up, but like always, the internet is terrible here.
